75-year-old arrested while collecting money from a victim of telephone fraud

A 75-year-old woman from Varna is in custody after she was arrested while collecting money from a victim of a telephone fraud. This happened as part of an operation by the National Police and officers from Varna.

The defrauded woman is also from Varna, aged 74. She had given the fraudsters 5,000 BGN and gold jewellery after falling victim to the "assisting police to apprehend telephone fraudsters" scheme.

The detained elderly woman is reported to have been involved in several phone scams on the territory of Varna for about 100,000 BGN since April 4. Work on the case continues under the guidance of the Prosecutor's office.
