The construction works will continue from 8 January 2026.
Traffic in both directions on the Danube Bridge at Ruse is due to resume at around 4pm today, December 17. Works on the 320-metre section of the carriageway towards Romania, which had been closed for major repairs, were completed a day ahead of schedule. As a result, all types of vehicles will be able to cross without restrictions during the Christmas and New Year holidays.
Over the past week, safety barriers have been installed and road markings laid in the repaired section. Work has also been carried out on the drainage collector and the renewal of pavement slabs, the Road Infrastructure Agency said.
The next phase of the bridge’s major refurbishment is scheduled to continue in early 2026. Construction work on a 320-metre section of the carriageway towards Bulgaria is expected to begin on 8 January.
As before, works on the Danube Bridge will be carried out daily during daylight hours and subject to weather conditions. Traffic management will be organised so that vehicles can pass alternately in both directions in the lane not affected by construction.

The Road Infrastructure Agency has urged drivers to comply with vehicle eligibility requirements and the enforced speed limit of 20 km/h. Oversized vehicles could damage the newly repaired section, potentially leading to additional and unforeseen works.
