The Bulgarian Ministry of Interior and the State Agency for National Security carried out a special operation against illegal immigration in the area of the Ladies’ Market in the capital city of Sofia on 1st of July. About 30 people were detained and brought out of a two storey house in “Tsar Samuil” street. Their luggage was loaded on a police van and they were removed from the place.
During the operation, the police closed off a section of “Tsar Samuil” street between "St. Kiril and Metodii” street and “Slivnitsa” Boulevard and did not allow the passage of vehicles and pedestrians.
Many groups of migrants with unclear status are known to reside in this area.
Eye witnesses say that two women and a child from the group of the detained were given medial help.
