A 35-year-old employee of the Economic Police Department in Varna was arrested after he, as an official, demanded 8,000 BGN to conceal documents in a pending pre-trial proceeding.
Today, August 15, in a raid led by a prosecutor, the police officer was detained at the time of accepting the bribe. The middleman, who is 43 years old, was also detained. Both have been charged. During a search, the documents to be concealed were found, as well as large sums of money.
The two men were detained for up to 72 hours, the prosecutor supervising the case will consider whether to submit requests for the most severe detention measure "remand”. Work on proving and documenting the crime continues under the guidance and supervision of the Varna District Prosecutor's Office.
