Based on the data on the number of vaccinated and recoveries, the gradual easing of the anti-epidemic measures will begin, Prime Minister Boyko Borissov confirmed on March 30. According to him, this will be the optimal option of measures and protecting people's mental health.

The Prime Minister specified that the kindergartens and nurseries will be reopened from April 5, and the options for the return of students from 5th to 12th grade to in-person attendance classes from April 12 according to a certain scheme are being discussed.

Open areas of restaurants, cafes will be allowed, and theatres, galleries, museums, philharmonics, conservatories will open at a certain capacity - first at 30%, the next step will be at 50% occupancy. It is also planned to lift the bans on fitness centres and spas.

"In this extremely difficult situation in the world, this is the optimal balance between the implementation of measures and the mental health of the people," the Prime Minister said.

The Prime Minister stressed that thanks to the efforts of the European Commission, 230,000 doses of vaccines will arrive in Bulgaria by the end of this week, and over 700,000 are expected in April.

"I count on all GPs, on all our medical specialists to give 10,000-15,000 vaccines a day. This means that there will be 1.5 million Bulgarians who have either been vaccinated or have protection with antibodies after the disease, and in May-June we will be out of the pandemic " he said.

Speaking at a briefing earlier on March 30, Health Minister Kostadin Angelov said that Bulgaria will ease some of its measures against the spread of Covid-19 from April 1,

The existing measures that came into effect on March 22 are due to expire on March 31.

Angelov said that an order would be issued later today Children will return to kindergartens on April 5, and school pupils will return to in-person classes from April 12, in line with a schedule to be prepared jointly with Education Minister Krassimir Vulchev.

From April 1, theatres will be allowed to re-open, using up to 30% of their seating capacity. Shopping malls and big stores will not re-open as of April 1, except those which can provide outdoor spaces..

Restaurants, bars and cafes will be allowed to re-open their outdoor areas and gardens.

Nightclubs will remain closed.

Angelov said that at national level, the number of hospitalisations was declining and he hoped that the country was at the highest point of the third wave.

Chief State Health Inspector Angel Kunchev said that at the end of April, there would be a free choice of vaccines against Covid-19.

Kunchev said that, Bulgaria would receive the Johnson & Johnson vaccine against Covid-19 in the second half of April.
