Bulgaria and Italy will cooperate in the fight against illegal trafficking in cultural property. On 6th of July, Bulgaria’s Minister of Culture, Vezhdi Rashidov and his Italian counterpart, Dario Franceschini, signed a memorandum of understanding between the two countries.
Dario Franceschini said the world needed to find a way to protect cultural heritage from terrorist groups. Vezhdi Rashidov added that a joint declaration should be drafted in the EU on safeguarding cultural property. He expressed hope that European financing would help for the implementation of a project for digitalization of cultural property.
The two ministers also discussed the possibilities for cultural exchange between the two countries.
