Bulgaria is the EU country with the lowest labour costs per hour, Eurostat report showed on 6th of April.The report shows a significant difference in the hourly labour costs in the EU member states, with the lowest being in Bulgaria, where the average hourly labour cost is 8,60 BGN (€4,4) and the highest in Denmark and Belgium, where workers get paid €42 per hour.
There is a huge gap between wages in Bulgaria and the average size for the whole European Union- €25,4 par hour. In Romania, the hourly labour cost is €5,5.
Although at the bottom of the ranking, Bulgaria has a sustainable trend towards increase in wages, from €1,4 per hour in 2004 to €4,4 in 2016.
