The traffic at the border crossing points between Bulgaria and Turkey is extremely busy because of guest workers from Turkey travelling back to Western Europe. For the past 24 hours, approximately 3,000 cars with 15,000 passengers crossed the border at Kapitan Andreevo check point.
All 10 lanes at Kapitan Andreevo are operational, but despite that the border crossing wait times are longer. Sometimes passengers have to wait for hours, because the authorities are carrying out physical checks aimed at identifying presence of illegal entrants hidden in the vehicles.
In the afternoon on 13th of August, the traffic at Kalotina, the Bulgarian border with Serbia, was also very busy.
To ease the crossing process, Bulgaria’s Border Police advise travellers to use other check points at the border with Serbia – Bregovo, Vrashka chukka, Strezimirovtsi and Oltomantsi. The traffic is expected to be busy until the beginning of September.
