On 28th May, the Central Election Commission announced the final results of the European Parliament elections held in Bulgaria on 25th May.

The final results and the allocation of the 17 MEP seats are as follows:

Center-right GERB - 30,4%, 680 838 votes, 6 seats.

Center-left ‘Coalition for Bulgaria’ – 18,93%, 424 037 votes, 4 seats.

Liberal ‘Movement for Rights and Freedoms’ – 17,27%, 386 725 votes, 4 seats.

Patriotic coalition ‘Bulgaria without Censorship’ - 10,66%, 238 629 votes, 2 seats.

Center-right coalition ‘Reformist Bloc’ - 6, 45%, 144 532 votes, one seat.

Voter turnout was 36,15% .

2 361 943 people voted in the elections on 25th May. The spoiled ballot papers were 122 536.

Within two days CEC will announce the names of the elected candidates.

Momchil Neikov came first in the list of ‘Coalition for Bulgaria’. Originally he was number 15 on the list, but won 8,05% of the preference votes, which pushed him up to the top position. Sergei Stanishev, the leader of the Bulgarian Socialist Party, was the list leader, but comes second with 6,61% by the preferential voting, followed by Ilyiana Yotova and Georgi Pirinski.

The elected MEPs from GERB are: Tomislav Donchev won 15,91% of the preference votes. The remaining Andrei Kovachev, Maria Gabriel, Dimitar Uruchev, Eva Paunova and Emil Radev received less than 5% of the preference votes.

‘Bulgaria without Censorship’: Nikolai Barekov won 10,95% of the preference votes and Angel Dzhambazki – 8,58%.

‘Movement for Rights and Freedoms’: No candidate received more than 5% of the preference vote. The first four MEPs are: Filiz Hyusmenova, Delyan Peevski, Nedzhim Ali, Ilhan Kyuchuk.

‘Reformist Bloc’: Svetoslav Malinov is the list leader. Originally he was number two on the list, but received 27,1% of the preference votes.
