As of today, February 7, additional stricter measures against the spread of the coronavirus come into force in the district of Sofia. The incidence on a 14-day basis is more than 2,000 infections per 100,000 population, which has led to more serious restrictions.
The district governor, Ivan Ivanov, clarified that about 300% increase in the Covid-19 cases was registered in the district of Sofia for the past 25-30 days. The municipalities of Chelopech, Anton, Pirdop and Zlatitsa are the most affected.
However, there are also alarming trends in the municipalities of Samokov, Botevgrad and Etropole. The incidence exceeds 2,500 people per 100,000, Ivan Ivanov added.
Under the new measures, restaurants and cafes will work with 50% of their capacity. The opening hours will be until 10 pm, the district governor said. Visits to language, education and music centres are suspended, children's camps and farmers' fairs are banned.
One-way foot flow and a requirement for presenting a green certificate are being introduced in large shopping centres.
Elective surgery and the planned admission in the district hospitals are paused. An exception will be made for life-saving cases. Of the district's 532 Covid-19 hospital beds, 177 are unoccupied. The intensive care beds are 35, 9 of them are not occupied, added Ivan Ivanov.
He assured there was no risk of running out Covid-19 beds in hospitals. The new restrictions will be in effect for at least 2 weeks.
