The European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO) is investigating possible misuse of funds in two projects for the modernisation of the Bulgarian railway infrastructure.
More than 100 police officers and agents from Bulgaria’s State Agency for National Security participated in searches, carried out at 28 locations in the districts of Sofia, Burgas, Varna, Stara Zagora, Smolyan and Pazardzhik.
The investigation is for possible misuse of EU funds and money laundering, the Luxembourg institution's statement added.
