fifa may deduct points bulgaria’s cska football club

The Bulgarian Football Union (BFU) may deduct 15 points from Bulgaria’s CSKA football club, which is in the South-West V AFG group. The sanction is related to implementation of a FIFA decision because of the football club’s debt of 150,000 euro to three football agents. The sanction may come into force after BFU receives the statement of FIFA regarding an accompanying letter sent.

The decision of FIFA is final and if BFU fails to comply with it, the Bulgarian football will be sanctioned and all national teams may be banned from participating in international championships. The only hope CSKA has at the moment is the accompanying letter describing the situation in the football club and the notorious article 107.

CSKA executive director, Alexander Todorov, told BNT that he expected FIFA’s statement to take into account the entry of the club into insolvency procedure as of 1st of July, according to which the national laws would take priority over the ones of the federation. Todorov added that in that situation CSKA had a legal obligation to pay the state first, before paying other creditors. FIFA's statement is expected to arrive by the end of the week, but points deduction will not solve CSKA's problem and the club's debt will remain.
