April 2 is the final day of campaigning for the parliamentary elections in Bulgaria. After a month of campaign and day of reflection on Saturday, Bulgarians will go to the polls on April 4.
In the conditions of a pandemic and under strict anti-epidemic measures, voting will take place in more than 11,900 polling stations across the country.
There will be voting machines in almost 9,400 of them. Polling stations will be established in Covid-19 wards in hospitals. There are also over 400 mobile stations for people with disabilities.
It is not yet clear how many will be for people in quarantine. However, it has become clear that people who are quarantined today, tomorrow and on election day will not be able to vote because they cannot be included in the lists for the mobile polling stations.
There will be 465 polling stations abroad. More than half have already received the ballot papers. The lockdown imposed in some countries will not hinder the Bulgarian vote.
More than 20,000 police officers will guard the Sunday's vote. The election papers and stamps have already been transported under police guard to the municipalities, and today the voting machines are to be transported. The police already received signals for election violations, and people have been detained.
A total of 6,895 candidates will run for the 240 seats in the next Parliament.
