“Justice for All” Protest Held Outside Sofia’s Palace of Justice

A demonstration by the civic initiative “Justice for All” took place today, December 18, in front of the Palace of Justice in Sofia under the slogan “The Last Waltz of Sarafov.”

Protesters claim that despite the resignation of the Zhelyazkov government, Boyko Borissov and Delyan Peevski continue to control the judiciary.

According to the demonstrators, despite the resignation of the cabinet "Zhelyazkov" Borisov and Peevski continue to hold control over the judiciary.

Among their demands are the appointment of a new Chief Prosecutor, targeting Borislav Sarafov, who is currently acting in the role.

The protesters are also calling for the resignation of the acting chairman of the Anti-Corruption Commission, Anton Slavchev.

The initiative argues that Bulgaria’s justice system remains held hostage by private interests, while the Supreme Judicial Council continues to operate beyond its mandate. Demonstrators also insist on free and fair elections.

Earlier today, members of the 'Boets' (Bulgaria United for One Goal) civic movement staged their own protest, entering the Palace of Justice building and blocking the office of the Chief Prosecutor. A sign reading “Resignation” was posted on the door.
