Kristian Kostov’s Success at Eurovision is a Success for BNT As Well

Bulgaria’s representative in 2017 Eurovision Song Contest Kristian Kostov and his song "Beautiful Mess" took Bulgaria to the second place in the Grand Final of the contest on 13^th of May in Kyiv.

The head of the Bulgarian Delegation in Kyiv, the excutive producer Yoana Levieva-Sawyer, the BNT Executive Director Simeon Kasabov and the backing vocalist Vladimir Mihailov were guests in the BNTv morning programme “The Day Begins”. They talked about the difficult and long way that they all went together to come to this great success at Eurovision.

This is Bulgaria's best result at Eurovision so far. It is a success not only for Kristian, whose hard work and talent took him to the big stage, but is is a success for the BNT team that helped him in achieving this great recognition and appreciation of millions of Europeans who fell in love with him and his song.

Organizers admit that they felt they were favourites after the first rehearsal for the semi-final. According to them, Kristian Kostov's success in the Eurovision is deserved. It is due to the good joint efforts and hard work of Bulgaria’s representative, who worked from morning till night.

The Excutve Producer Yoana Levieva-Sawyer said that for 5 years she had been working on Eurovision projects and when she frist started she could not have thought that Bulgaria would reach second place in such a prestigious international competition.

"I feel exceptionally happy with our success and I am very pleased, especially for the musicians, the songwriters, Kris, who is such a talented young performer, for the backing vocalists we did not see because the stage concept was such. The focus was on Kristian, but without them the song would not have sounded this way. it's a huge success for Bulgarian music as a whole, " the producer said. She added she was very happy that Bulgarian pop music achieved such a success.”

The road to Kristian’s success was long and difficult, the backing vocalist Vladimir Mihailov said. "This boy is phenomenal, not only because of his age, but also because of the way he works He is attentite to very detail. We were very busy, there were constant changes in the arrangement but we came to the right version of the song. I am extremely impressed and very happy for him. " This is not just an achieved goal. Everyone liked Kristian very much. When he went on stage, it was as if the little prince came out, "Mihailov added.

"We have tried to change many things, including the approach to choose the stage performance," BNT Executive Director Simeon Kasabov explained. “This is one of the few years in which jury and audience are unanimous for the two songs ranked at the top. "In order to reach this final, we had many rehearsals. We had the feeling that we were favourites since the first rehearsal for the semifinal," Kasabov said.
