Bulgaria’s President Rosen Plevneliev tabled in Parliament a proposal for holding a national referendum on voting rules at the same time as the local government elections on 25th of October 2015.
He proposed a referendum with three main questions:
1. Do you support some MPs to be elected on a majoritarian basis?
2. Do you support voting in elections and national referendums to be made obligatory?
3. Do you support introduction of electronic voting in elections and national referendums?
The President presented the motives for his proposal in an address to the nation, which was broadcast on the Bulgarian National Television on 3rd of June.
