The three electricity distribution companies in Bulgaria CEZ, EVN and Energo Pro have submitted applications to the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission requesting new increase in the prices of electricity as of 1st of July. The regulator said on 31st of March that it would come up with a standpoint by the end of June.
The electricity distributors propose an increase of 4.9% for the night tariff and 1,8% for the day tariff in South Bulgaria.
Thje proposed increase for North-East Bulgaria is by an average of 2,16%.
CEZ which is the company supplying electricity in West Bulgaria do not point a specific figure for the increase but highlighted that they wanted the expenses they made for investment and network maintenance to be covered.
It is expected that next week the State Energy and Water Regulatory Commission would approve an increase in electricity price by average 1% from 1st of April for the whole country. The reason is that gas price goes up by 30%.
Electricity price changes every year as of 1st of July. Under the law, the electricity distributors are obliged to submit their requests for new prices by 31st of March. The final decision on the price change is made by EWRC by the end of June.
