The legal case on the contract with Poland for the repair of the MiG-29 military aircrafts against the former minister of defense Nikolay Nenchev, proceeds in the Sofia City Court with the questioning of the former Nenchev’s deputy – Dimitar Kumurdjiev.
Kumurdjiev said that he did not know about any contracts with the Russian company RSK-MiG. He participated in a working group, negotiating with Poland and in his words – the expert opinion was that the Polish factories could perform quick and quality repair of the aircraft engines.
Kumurdjiev explained that these negotiations with Poland were a real step towards decoupling Bulgarian army of Russian and Soviet equipment, as there was a NATO resolution from 2014 in this direction. The next witness is the former chief of defense - General Konstantin Popov.
