A solemn procession in the South Bulgarian town of Kardzhali will welcome the remains of St. John the Baptist on 23rd of June. This is the first time the relics arrive in Bulgaria’s East Rhodope mountain from the Greek monastery “St. Paraskeva”, where they are stored.
Three bishops: Nikolai from the South Bulgarian city of Plovdiv, Jaonikii from the Southeast Bulgarian city of Sliven and Arsenii from Znepol will lead the procession to the medieval monastery “St. John the Baptist” in Kardzhali.
Children from the Sunday Church School will perform a play with biblical themes and will mark the end of the school year. The school is one of the biggest Sunday schools in the country, with 82 students aged between 3 and 16 years.
