The 240 newly-elected MPs swore in the name of the Republic of Bulgaria to observe and obey the Constitution and the laws of the country and to be guided by the interests of the people in all of their actions.
Dimitar Glavchev from GERB was elected as Chairman of the 44th
National Assembly as 157 MPs voted for and 81 abstained. There were no
votes against the election. In his first speech Mr. Glavchev thanked for the
support and said, that he would work towards unity and consolidation.
Each parliamentary represented political party nominated a deputy of the chairman and the nominations were voted en bloc. All of the 235 attending MPs voted in favour of those nominations. Here are the five deputies: Tsveta Karayancheva (GERB), Valery Zhablyanov (BSP), Yavor Notev (“United Patriots”), Nigyar Dzhafer (DPS), Veselin Mareshki (“Volya”).
