The first Covid-19 vaccination centre was set up on December 15. It is outside the building of Sofia Regional Health Inspectorate and will work 14 hours a day.
At the entrance, there are electronic displays with information about the vaccine. The tent is the place for registration and waiting. The vaccines will be given in vans where there are 6 cabinets. The process is estimated to take 20 minutes.
The centre would work between 6.30am and 8.30pm.


The head of Sofia RHI, Doctor Danchi Penchev explained that the vaccination will start with dentists, pharmacists, doctors and other medical personnel, who are due to get vaccinated in phase one of Bulgaria’s national Covid-19 vaccination plan.
If necessary, 2 more vaccination centres could be opened in Sofia. The mayor, Yordanka Fanadakova explained there was readiness to accommodate them in the diagnostic and consultation centres if more are needed.


Health Minister, Kostadin Angelov, said he expected that more frontline medical professionals would express willingness to be vacinated. Currently, they arre 33%. He added that in some hospitals in the country, the list of doctors, nurses and healthcare assistants wishing to be vaccinated continues to grow. So the initially pfesented figure will be changed,
In Sofia, about 40% of the staff of the municipal hospitals is ready to get vaccinated against Covid-19. Seven medical establishments in the capital city expressed willingness to open immunization cabinets for their staff.
