Holy Thursday is the most important day of the Holy Week prior to the Easter Day.
The Christians commemorate the Last Supper, when Jesus told his disciples that he was going to be betrayed. On this day the cross is removed from the altar, symbolising its carrying from Christ to Calvary.
In Bulgaria, today is the first day in which the eggs are being dyed and/or painted. The first one must always be red and symbolises the resurrection of Jesus Christ. On Holy Thursday the dough for the Easter bred is being kneaded.
