Two more districts in Bulgaria, Gabrovo and Plovdiv, are declaring a flu epidemic from Monday due to increased morbidity, the Health Ministry said on January 19.
The temporary measures to be introduced there from 22 to 28 January are the same as in Smolyan district – suspension of planned medical consultations for children and pregnant women, as well as routine checkups and mandatory immunisations and re-immunisations; conducting a strict daily screening in nurseries, kindergartens and schools. Visits to hospitals and social institutions for children and adults are prohibited.

In view of the circulation of influenza viruses in the country, the Ministry of Health reminds that wearing masks, keeping a distance and avoid crowds are advisable to prevent contracting influenza, coronavirus and acute respiratory infections.
