The exhibition "Varna - The Oldest Gold Treasure", displaying golden objects discovered in Bulgaria, was opened in the building of the European Parliament in Brussels on 14th of October.
The Presidents of the European Parliament, European Council and European Commission, Bulgaria’s EU Commissioner Kristalina Georgieva and Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Boyko Borisov were among the guests at the opening ceremony.
The exhibition was organized by Bulgaria’s MEP Emil Radev.
The artefacts were discovered on the territory of the so called Varna Chalcolithic Necropolis in 1972.
The gold treasure of Varna Necropolis is considered to be the oldest processed gold in the world. The most famous artefacts are the objects in the shape of a bull and a golden tiara.
