The 100th anniversary of the proclamation of Turkey as a Republic was celebrated with a scientific conference and exhibition at Sofia University. The events were dedicated to the diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and Turkey.
The exhibition includes photographs and gifts to officials from Bulgaria as well as documents from the personal archive of former Prime Minister and ex king Simeon Saxe-Coburg-Gotha.
A photograph of Tsar Ferdinand in Istanbul, the timetable of the Tsar's train travelling there, a power of attorney for peace negotiations during the Balkan War, and a symbolic key of Ankara that was presented to Todor Zhivkov are part of the exhibition.
