The IT teacher, Angel Angelov, from the North Bulgarian city of Shumen was selected as a Microsoft innovative education expert for 2015 for his contribution to the use of information technologies in teaching process.

Every year, Microsoft selects experts from all over the world, who meet at a global forum to discuss their innovative ideas and approaches in the use of new technologies in teaching. Along with 100 experts from other countries, the software giant invited Angel Angelov to share his experience in innovative use of classroom technology at a forum in May 2015.

The method that makes Angelov’s teaching so attractive is learning through action and doing. While preparing his teaching plan, Angelov recalls how difficult it was to be for him as a student to understand notions in abstract mathematics. His main idea is to make learning easy and fun, which keeps students more engaged and they learn faster. Angelov is convinced that information technologies develop logical thinking and provoke interest in other school subjects.

The innovative classroom approach based on encouraging children’s curiosity to learn and use of technologies has been recognised by Microsoft.

“I encourage children’s natural eagerness to learn in order to teach them to work with their hands. By using their senses, they develop logical thinking and constructivism – skills that will be useful to them in life”, Angelov explains.

Microsoft’s goal is to create a global community of education innovators, among which is the Bulgarian IT teacher, Angel Angelov, from the school “Sava Dobroplodni” in the city of Shumen.
