A train hit a car at a level crossing in the village of Damyanitsa, Sandanski region, Southern Bulgaria, on September 14. The driver of the car died and the 4 year old child travelling with him also died, the hospital in Sandanski confirmed.

The accident took place around 4:30 pm today. According to initial information, the driver had started to go over the crossing when the barrier was down and the red light was on. He even overtook the vehicles in front of him.
Work is continuing to establish all the facts and circumstances surrounding the accident, police said.
