On 16th of September, the banker Tzvetan Vassilev, whose company BROMAK is the majority shareholder of Corporate Commercial Bank (CBB), surrendered to the police in Belgrade, Serbia.
Around 11.00 a.m., he arrived at the police office in Belgrade, accompanied by his lawyer, announced the Serbian radio B-92 based on reports of the Serbian Blic newspaper. The report reminds that the international arrest warrant was received by the Serbian authorities on 15th of September. It also makes reference to the statement made by the Serbian Interior Minister, Nebojsa Stefanovic, who recently said that he had no information that Vassilev was in Serbia.
Under the headline “Wanted by Interpol Bulgarian Tycoon, Tzvetan Vasilev, Surrendered in Belgrade”, the newspaper says that a procedure for confirmation of his identity is underway. After that the court will decide whether Vassilev will be detained at the request of Bulgaria, circulated through Interpol.
Vassilev’s lawyer Konstantin Simeonov confirmed for the BNT programme “Around the World and at Home” that Tzvetan Vassilev surrendered and added that the idea was considered a week ago.
