Bulgaria’s State Railways (BDŽ) will run additional afternoon trips of its festive Christmas train, led by steam locomotive № 01.23, on Saturday, 13 December, and Sunday, 14 December. The extra journeys follow strong demand for the morning services, numerous inquiries from passengers, and the rapid sell-out of tickets within a single day.
The afternoon trains will feature the same setup as the morning rides: three festively decorated passenger carriages and one retro carriage from the “Vitosha Express” dedicated to Father Christmas and Snow White.
On Saturday, the train departs Sofia Central Station at 14:10 and arrives in Bankya at 14:40, giving passengers plenty of time to explore the retro carriage, meet Father Christmas and Snow White, and enjoy the Christmas atmosphere in Bankya’s town centre. The return trip to Sofia is scheduled for 16:30, arriving at 17:00.
On Sunday, the train departs Sofia at 14:00, arriving in Bankya at 14:30. The return journey leaves at 16:20 and reaches Sofia at 16:50.
