The laboratory tests indicate that bird flu was the cause of the death of the 21 Dalmatian pelicans in the Nature Reserve Srebarna, the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency announced on 26th of March.
The authorities issued an order for setting up a protection zone around the reserve, with a radius of 3km, as well as a surveillance zone of 10 km. The Bulgarian Food Safety Agency introduces urgent measures to prevent the spreading of the virus.
