In response to the attack against the French weekly ‘Charlie Hebdo’, in which 12 people were killed, the journalists of the Bulgarian National Television (BNT) gathered in front of the media building on 8th of January to express their firm support of the freedom of speech. “We declare that the journalistic duty to the society and democracy is stronger than terrorism and violence.”

In a sign of solidarity with their French colleagues, the BNT journalists replaced their profile pictures in Facebook with the slogan “Je suis Charlie”. As an expression of sympathy, the slogan is also shown in news and current affair programmes of the public service broadcaster.
