Bulgaria will seek European support for the building of a natural gas hub in the country. The proposal will be tabled at the international energy forum, which will take place in Sofia.
Main topic of the discussions will be the building of gas connections in Central and South-East Europe.
The high level forum is organized at the initiative of Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Boyko Borissov.
The first meeting of the forum will be attended by Maroš Šefčovič, Vice-President of the European Commission, in charge of Energy Union, Miguel Arias Cañete, Commissioner for Climate Action and Energy and other representatives of the countries from Central and South-East Europe.
The participants will assess whether and how the establishment of a gas hub in Bulgaria will help for the achievement of the goals of the European Energy Union.
Bulgaria is ready to become a gas distribution centre for South-East Europe and the EU countries, the Bulgarian Energy Minister, Temenuzhka Petkova, told BNT morning programme on 9th of February.
