President Rumen Radev is visiting South Africa. At a meeting with his counterpart, Cyril Ramaphosa, in Pretoria on May 12, he said that Bulgaria has the ambition to intensify its cooperation with South Africa, which is a key factor in international relations and on the African continent.

The two presidents pointed out that the bilateral relations have been built on a solid moral foundation since the time when Bulgaria supported the South African people in the fight against apartheid. Therefore, both the dialogue at the highest level and the strengthening of communication between the different institutions in the executive branch contribute.

Opportunities for expanding the bilateral partnership in the areas of economy, trade, transport, tourism, education and science were the focus of the meeting of the two presidents, which also noted the remarkable growth of about 200% in economic exchanges in 2022.
