Artificial intelligence is not a threat, but can be a friend, Georgi Pashaliev - a student from the Sofia High school of Mathematics told BNT on December 22. He achieved historic success for Bulgaria in the field of artificial intelligence and was included in the Forbes Bulgaria "30 under 30" list.

Only 18 years old, the talented young man has placed himself among the elite of scientists working with Artificial Intelligence with developments in the field of medicine.

“We take five countries, for example, five hospitals, five schools, institutions or whatever. Each hospital has a certain number of patients with certain diagnoses and treatments. Based on the data, artificial intelligence will help make the diagnosis more accurate," said Georgi Pashaliev.

Georgi is the first Bulgarian student to publish an article in the world's most renowned scientific conference on AI - NeurIPS. The article bridges the fields of machine learning and game theory and proposes a new method for sharing data in building more reliable AI. Georgi started his work on the project as an intern at ETH Zurich, where he worked under the supervision of Dr. Nikola Konstantinov, a researcher at INSAIT, Prof. Martin Vechev, initiator for the establishment of the institute, and Florian Dorner, PhD student at Max-Planck.

For Georgi, the world is mathematics, and the Pythagorean Theorem is his favourite theorem.

"The idea of artificial intelligence is actually to help us. I would like to live in a world where artificial intelligence is more present, because it will definitely be able to alleviate some of our everyday life with the tasks it deals with," the student says.
