Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Boyko Borissov tested positive for Covid-19

Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Boyko Borissov has tested positive for COVID-19, he said in a post on Facebook on October 25.

"Although the Regional Health Inspectorate (RHI) officially lifted my quarantine, on Friday I postponed all meetings and public events for the coming days. After two PCR tests, from today I tested positive for COVID-19. I feel general discomfort. At the moment, the doctors recommend that I say at home,“ he said and added that he had informed the RHI about all contacts he had.

On Friday, the Prime Minister isolated himself after it became clear that Deputy Minister of Regional Development Nikolai Nankov tested positive for the virus. Boyko Borissov announced that he had been in contact with Nankov 5 days earlier.

Before isolating himself on Friday, the PM met in Sofia with US Deputy Secretary of State Keith Krak.

Later, in the presence of Borissov and Kark, Ministers of Transport Rosen Zhelyazkov and Energy Minister Temenuzhka Petkova signed key documents with the United States in the field of 5G networks and nuclear energy. US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo attended the ceremony online.
