A car with migrants overturned in the early hours on March 20 near Aldomirovtsi Marsh in the area of Slivnitsa, Western Bulgaria. There were 15 migrants in the vehicle. One died and 14 are injured. They were taken to hospitals in Sofia. They are aged between 25 and 30.
The driver is Serbian and has been detained.
Last night, the Border Police went to stop a monitored car, for which it had operational information that it was carrying migrants.
The driver was defiant and made a sudden manoeuvre in an attempt to avoid inspection.
"At 11.59 p.m. a signal was received about a car turned around in Aldomirovtsi Marsh. 6 ambulances were immediately dispatched to the scene. All the migrants were men," Emergency Aid spokeswoman Katya Sungarska told BNT.
