At a ceremony held at the Ministry of Health, a joint protocol for the implementation of the public procurement for the supply of helicopters for the needs of the Air Emergency Medical Services was signed with the Italian company Leonardo S.p.A.
The contract itself was signed on March 27, the caretaker Health Minister, Assen Medzhidiev, announced on March 30. A procedure has been started to build hangars for the helicopters, the minister further said and asked Andrea Mertetto from the supplier company to share his ideas and experience.
The first helicopter is expected to arrive in December. Two more helicopters will be delivered in 2024, 2 in 2025 and the final, sixth helicopter, will be delivered in 2026.
