The Council of Ministers on March 22 approved a derogation from the EU sanctions imposed on Russia. It concerns the purchase of the necessary materials, spare parts and services for the planned annual repairs of Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant. Caretaker Energy Minister, Rossen Hristov, said that this will ensure the normal course of the repairs and the operation of the nuclear power plant.
"This is critical for the safety of Kozloduy NPP. We are talking about materials and parts for which we have not yet found alternative suppliers. We continue to look for such contractors. In addition, we are also working on stock-piling such parts to secure Kozloduy NPP in the coming years, which also ensures the country's energy security," Hristov said.
