The Sofia City Court is set to hold a preliminary hearing in the case against former We Continue the Change leader Kiril Petkov and the co-chair of Yes, Bulgaria Bozhidar Bozhanov.
The two are charged with attempting to coerce former electronic governance minister, in the Denkov cabinet, Alexander Yolovski.
In early October, the prosecution submitted the indictment against Petkov and Bozhanov to the court.
According to the charges, in October 2023 at a restaurant in Sofia, Kiril Petkov allegedly told Yolovski in an aggressive tone that he must coordinate with Bozhidar Bozhanov before dismissing any officials appointed by Bozhanov.
The prosecution further claims that the former We Continue the Change leader warned Yolovski that failure to comply would lead to negative consequences for him.
The charge against Bozhidar Bozhanov alleges that, as Minister of E-Governance in 2022 (he was electronic governance minister in the Cabinet of Nikolay Denkov between May and June 2022.), he violated the Classified Information Protection Act and gave preferential treatment to a consortium of companies in the awarding of a public procurement contract.
