Five Bulgarians have been charged in the UK with spying for Russia. According to British prosecutors, three men and two women between August 2020 and February this year conspired to "collect information intended to be directly or indirectly useful to an enemy, for a purpose prejudicial to the security and interests of the state."
The charges are against Orlin Roussev, 45, Biser Dzhambazov, 41, Katrin Ivanova, 31, Ivan Stoyanov, 31, and Vanya Gaberova, 29. Roussev, Dzhambazov and Ivanova have already been charged on February 11 this year with possession of false identity documents.
The three have already appeared in court on those charges in July.
