Georg Georgiev is elected Vice President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE). This happened after a vote of parliamentarians from all member states today, January 22, in the Assembly. Also today, Georgiev was elected deputy chairman of the European People Party’s Group in PACE, GERB said.
"I take this as a high responsibility to continue our work to strengthen Bulgaria in the context of broader European politics, as well as a commitment to even more firmly uphold the shared values that have maintained peace and stability on a global scale for decades," he said.
Georg Georgiev, who who chairs the committee on human rights, religion and citizens’ complaints at the Bulgarian Parliament, said he would continue to work hard in the area of the protection and safeguarding of human rights, which is the main mission of the Council of Europe and its bodies.
