Blockades at the border continue for the seventh day due to protests by Greek farmers
Protesting Greek farmers on December 9 closed the Kulata–Promachonas border crossing to heavy goods vehicles traffic. The blockade is expected to remain in place until around 20:00.
At present, the queue of lorries on the approach to Bulgaria’s border with Greece stretches for roughly three kilometres, as the crossing remains shut by the protesting farmers.
This is the seventh consecutive day of demonstrations by Greek agricultural workers, who are protesting over unpaid subsidies. They have been blocking border points, as well as key roads and motorways across Greece.
