The social pension for old age increases to BGN 276.64 from BGN 247, Minister of Labour and Social Policy, Ivanka Shalapatova, said after a meeting of the Council of Ministers on June 27.
The increase is by 12%. The pensions under the so-called "Swiss rule" are planned to also be updated by 12% as of 1 July this year.
The change will lead to an increase in pensions that are not related to labour activity, as by law their amount is determined depending on the social pension for old age. These are the military and civil disability pensions, the social disability pension and the personal pension.
Supplements to foreign aid pensions, such as those due to war veterans, are also being increased.
