Man kills his mother in an apartment in Burgas

A brutal murder in the coastal city of Burgas. A teacher was stabbed repeatedly in her apartment. Her 24-year-old son, with whom she lived, is detained as suspect for the murder.

The prosecutor's office in Burgas indicted 24-year-old Georgi Genzhov, who killed his mother in a particularly cruel way.

Investigators described the murder of teacher Radka Gesheva as the height of cruelty. Extremely cold-blooded and purposeful, without a drop of regret for what happened.

There were more than 40 stab wounds on the victim's body, made with two knives after one broke.

The incident took place in the apartment of the alleged perpetrator. Yesterday, he called his mother to complain that he was not feeling well and she went to his home to see him.

Investigators specified that he was a drug addict. He was admitted to the psychiatric clinic in Burgas 7 times after his parents reported that he had mental health problems.

Yesterday, a dispute arose between mother and son.

"There is evidence that the perpetrator used drugs and his mother was very worried about him, despite that he was an adult. Most likely these worries of hers led to the dispute and this terrible act," said Senior Commissioner Emil Pavlov, director of the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior in Burgas.

"We as people with considerable experience in the law enforcement system have faced many brutal murders. But this is one of those that we can call a height of cruelty. It is shocking to me, that the perpetrator shows no regret or remorse for what happened," added Georgi Chinev, district prosecutor of Burgas.

The psychiatric examination of Georgi Genzhov is still pending. After the report it will be decided whether he was disabled by the long use of drugs over the years, whether he is sane and what criminal liability he can hold.
