Krassimira Trifonova, suspected of the murder of her son-in-law Peyo Peev, was removed from her post in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The ministry is providing the necessary assistance to the investigation, the Foreign Ministry told BNT on January 24. The Foreign Ministry has been informed about the case of initiated criminal proceedings against an employee.

The court remanded 54-year-old Krasimira Trifonova in custody, while her daughter Gabriela Peeva was released under house arrest to look after her children. The hearing was held behind closed doors at the request of the defence.
The charge against the two women is for intentionally killing 44-year-old Peyo Peev, who was sitting in the driver's seat of the vehicle. According to investigators, the cause of death was strangulation. The car with the body of the victim was found slightly burnt in a wooded area of Vitosha mountains near Sofia, on the road to the Aleko hut.
