The Bulgarian police found four more refugees in the Bulgarian Black Sea coastal town of Kavarna. Thus 26 refugees altogether have been detained in the area in the recent days, said the Mayor of Kavarna, Tsonko Tsonev.
The police detained three of the Afghanistani refugees, but one managed to run away and is now wanted.
The police operation took place on 11th of September, shortly before 21.00, when the refugees made an attempt to get on a bus from Kavarna to the capital city Sofia. The only woman in the group was placed in the gynecological ward of the hospital in Kavarna because the medical examination found that she was pregnant. On 12th of September, it is expected the refugees to be taken to the refugee centre in Elhovo.
On 11th of September, the police detained 22 refugees, who came out of a forest near the village of St. Nicola in the area of Kavarna.
One of the detained refugees said that the group paid 2,500 Euro each to a smuggler and arrived by boat at “Bolata” bay and the Bulgarian resort complex “Rusalka”.
Initial reports show that the migrants are from Syria, Afghanistan and Pakistan.
