Currently, no information has been received about contamination in the Bulgarian section of the Danube in relation to the oil spill near Novi Sad. This was reported by the Danube Basin Directorate to BNT on June 21.
The situation is being monitored, including through the Danube Early Warning System for Emergency Pollution, which involves the countries of the international Danube basin. All competent authorities have been informed in order to take the necessary action if necessary.
About 35 tonnes of diesel fuel spilled into the Serbian section of the Danube from the Bulgarian-flagged ship Jumbo 3. The captain of the ship, Tsvetomir Lakov, was arrested for 48 hours.
