The organisers of the summer opera festival “OPERA OPEN” in the South Bulgarian city of Plovdiv expect more than 10,000 viewers to attend the event. This is its second edition and will go beyond the stage of the Roman Antique Theatre to seek new audience and make this classical art more accessible.
This year’s edition also will include opera performances by world famous opera singers.
Orlin Atanasaov, often called the ”new Gayurov”, will perform at the opening on 19th of June.
Kamen Chanev will be performing in the premiere of "Carmen".
Ana Lucrezia, arriving straight from Arena di Verona, will sing in “Aida”.
The Deputy Mayor of Plovdiv, Stefan Stoyanov, has said that there will be many other music events organized within the frame of the festival, which will be held in various open-air stages across the city.
The Museum of Aviation in the village of Krumovo, the old town in Plovdiv and the outdoor cinema are only some of the open-air venues for the events from the accompanying music programme “OPERA OPEN Light”.
Tourist companies in the region are showing interest in the festival. Many of the events are already included in their tours.
