Traffic through the Petrohan mountain pass was restricted until 15.00 today, December, due to removal of dangerous trees and branches near the roadway, the Road Infrastructure Agency said. Teams of the road maintenance company, District Road Managment in Montana and the regional forestry enterprise are working jointly and as quickly as possible to remove the trees and make the section safe.
Detour routes were set up for getting around the road sections that were temporarily closed to traffic of all vehicles. For those travelling from Sofia, the detour route is via Iskrets - Svoge - Vratsa - Montana. Traffic from Montana is diverted to road II-81 and at the Montana roundabout drivers continue on road I-1. The traffic is regulated by "Traffic Police".
Road Infrastructure Agency advises motoristst planning to travel to set off in vehicles prepared for winter conditions, drive at a speed consistent with the weather conditions, and to not undertake risky manoeuvres.
Up-to-date information on the road conditions and maintenance is available on the RIA website, www.api.bg, and on the telephone line 0700 130 20 at any time.
