Bulgaria’s Prime Minister, Acad. Nikolay Denkov, will take part in the World Economic Forum, which brings together the international political and financial elite in the Swiss Alpine resort of Davos. The focus of discussions this year is on ideas and strategies related to economic uncertainty, environmental risks, artificial intelligence and countering misinformation, the government press office said on January 15.
The Prime Minister's participation comes in the context of military conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza and growing global challenges reflected in the Global Risks 2024 report. The analysis highlights the need for new approaches and solutions in addressing them. According to the report, mis- and dis- information is one of the biggest short-term risks, while extreme weather is emerging as a key long-term issue.
The Bulgarian Prime Minister will take part in the forum where these and other topics will be discussed by world leaders and experts from various fields. Acad. Nikolay Denkov will participate in a series of discussions and personal talks. 'Rebuilding Trust' is the motto of this year's WEF Annual Meeting in Davos, Switzerland, 15-19 January.
The theme is a direct response to the erosion of trust that can be seen in societies and between nations," says Prime Minister Acad. Denkov.
More than 2,800 participants, including some 60 heads of state and government, will take part in the Davos forum. Among the top political leaders taking part are French President Emmanuel Macron, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Chinese Premier Li Qiang. The United States will be represented by Secretary of State, Antony Blinken. The President-elect of Argentina, Javier Millay, is also expected to attend.
